On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, a large group of the Kensington Investment Company, Inc.’s (KIC) associates and family participated in a dinner service for veterans staying at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. The mission at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans (NECHV) is to provide homeless veterans with food, shelter, services, and support so they have a chance at a sustainable civilian life after service. Our group was one of many corporate and individual volunteers who sign up frequently to serve those that have served us so well.
Dinner was held in the lower facilities as the dining room and kitchen are in the midst of a major renovation. Dinner was generously donated by the Pine Street Inn and dessert was donated by KIC. Laughter and gratitude could be heard as the veterans, one by one, thanked us for being there while we thanked them for their service to our country. In the short time that we were there, nearly 100 veterans were served a hot meal. While this number is not as large as previous years, it speaks to the progress Boston is making in ending homelessness for our veterans.
The NECHV extends their thanks for the great group of volunteers. Antoine, who has run the NECHV kitchen for a decade, rated our group a 10 for quality.
The NECHV also extends a special thanks to Kensington Investment Company for their commitment to volunteering. An overwhelming number of associates volunteered for this event therefore, KIC has committed to another dinner event in November in honor of Veterans’ Day.
