Ben grew up in St. Louis. His mother got him hooked on traveling when he was 13. She worked as a travel agent and took him with her to lead a tour in Israel for several weeks. Ben has since been to over a dozen countries and 35 states. It was travel that exposed him to the culinary field.
Ben received his bachelors degree in Colorado, pursuing several Science-related interests, but ultimately heading straight to culinary school in Boston after graduation. Ben then worked in a number of restaurants over the next few years in Boston, and then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. It was in California that he met his wife.
Ben wanted a 9-5 schedule to facilitate a high-quality family life, so he chose accounting, with an initial interest of helping to save the type of small independent restaurants he had worked in. Ben’s wife grew up local to Boston, and they moved back to be close to her family. Ben lives in Weymouth with his wife and two children. He still enjoys cooking at home.
