Built in 1909, this 39,000-square-foot, four-story retail building is located at the corner of Newbury Street and Massachusetts Avenue at the western edge of Boston’s Back Bay. In 2014, a large-scale renovation project transformed the building. Among the improvements are replacement of the façade, a decorative storefront, and a new glass-and-steel-framed, four-story addition, along with a quaint, second-floor terrace and sidewalk area. This project also included relocating all utilities to the roof and encasing them in a double-redundant waterproof enclosure, allowing substantially increased retail space within the building. All new, modern HVAC equipment was installed as part of this project for easier control and more efficient energy consumption. Build New England awarded KIC its 2015 Performance Award in honor of the excellent teamwork and complexity of work on this project.
Retail: The building is 100% occupied by Room & Board.
